Do you want to improve your own life through fitness, and contribute to a great cause at the same time? Of course you do.

5k for Newbies (...and Not so Newbies)
This class uses the Couch to 5k training method to get anyone...and we do mean anyone...running. We start with 1-minute running increments, and by the end of 9 weeks, you'll be able to finish a whole 5k. How fun is that?! This group is perfectly suitable for anyone of any shape, size, or age. We'll end the training program by running the Miles for Mills 5k on Memorial Day morning in Downtown Augusta (this race will require a separate registration found here).

Or, if you already run and you're looking to take it to the next level, come try our 5k for Not so Newbies group. This group is designed to take anyone who can muscle out a 5k (no matter how strong or how shaky), and help you move to the next level. This group will offer a mix of tempo runs, speed work, and hills. You'll also get a training plan for the days that you're not running with KVC.

You'll be carefully coached the entire way by Amy Lawson. She's the founder of Kennebec Valley Coaching and has coached about 20 5k for Newbies groups with a 987% success rate (that is an exaggeration). Amy is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, a USATF Running Coach, and an IRONMAN Certified Coach. She'll be joined by an awesome and enthusiastic crew of 5k for Newbies graduates: Lynn (hilarious), Hazel (always willing to help), and Reilly (for some valuable male perspective).

5k for Newbies starts Tuesday April 4th. We'll meet every subsequent Tuesday at 5pm at the Kennebec Valley Coaching Studio in Downtown Augusta. After each Tuesday session, we'll discuss a running related topic (shoes, gear, food, abs, safety, etc) and open the floor for Q&A. Participants will have the opportunity to run with Amy at KVC on Saturday mornings at 7:15am as well. The training program will end with our final race, The Miles for Mills 5k, on Memorial Day morning.

You won't even believe this, but every 5k for Newbies (...and Not so Newbies) participant will receive a Kennebec Valley Coaching/Travis Mills Foundation technical t-shirt to wear on race day. These t-shirts are only for the training group participants, so you can count on the fact that the other racers are gonna be pretty darn jealous of you. Runners LOVE race t-shirts, so this perk will start your collection on a strong note.

Participation in this group is a whale of a deal.
